MTV VMAs, Gwen to design Dorothy’s shoes, new Harajuku Lovers

Singer turned designer Gwen Stefani has been selected as one of 19 designers to interpret the Wizard of Oz’s Dorothy’s iconic red shoes.
With a lot of help from Swarovski, Gwen, under her L.A.M.B label will create her own version of the ruby slippers to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz next year. The event also solidifies Gwen’s status as a bonafide designer, taking part in the project alongside the likes of Alberta Ferretti, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier and more.The designs, will be officially unveiled in Saks Fifth Avenue’s windows and designer shoe salon during an event on 4 September. The shoes will then be displayed at the tents at Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week before making a tour of the US and eventually being auctioned off for charity.
